Yukihiko Tsutsui's wild grape vine basket bag is easy to carry and match because it's not too formal.
Each basket bag reflects Tsutsui's simple and genuine personality.
This is a "wild grape vine basket bag" made in a mountain village in Nagano Prefecture.
This is a large, vertical bag woven with fine ajiro. Tsutsui's bold yet delicate and beautiful craftsmanship truly shines through.
All items are handcrafted by Yukihiko Tsutsui of "Yamabudo Kobo Tsutsui," starting from the cutting of the wild grape vines, which are the raw material.
Tsutsui's baskets bring out a deep, rich flavor by utilizing the natural vines, dynamically weaving in their original curves, thicknesses, and thinness. While many items made overseas have the oil removed by boiling the vines partway through, preventing them from developing a luster even after extensive use, Tsutsui's wild grape vine baskets, which are soaked in water and carefully woven, are strong and grow more beautiful with use. The boldly woven baskets, exuding the power of nature, are easy to carry for both casual and elegant occasions, suiting any person or place. No two wild grape vine baskets made from natural materials are alike. We deliver a unique and beautiful encounter to you.
The handle joint is a characteristic feature of Tsutsui's work, engineered for strength.
The gusset is sturdily woven to prevent deformation and maintain its shape. The square bottom prevents items from shifting around.
By using natural vines, variations in holes and color differences become part of the beautiful texture.
Carefully cut with scissors instead of a cutter, ensuring a strong and beautiful finish on the inside.
The rounded handle won't hurt your arm when you carry it.
【To Customers Purchasing Wild Grape Baskets】
Wild grape baskets may develop mold or insect damage depending on storage conditions. As natural material, wild grape baskets absorb necessary humidity and release excess moisture. We recommend storing them in a well-ventilated and low-humidity place. When not in use, we also recommend enjoying them in your room as an interior decoration or storage basket.
※In case of insect damage
Mr. Tsutsui can beautifully repair the basket by replacing the damaged vines. Repairs are free of charge if purchased less than one year ago. For baskets more than one year old, repairs are possible for a fee (approximately 5,000 yen and up, depending on the extent of the damage). Please note that you will also be responsible for the round-trip shipping costs in such cases.
