This is a wonderfully textured natural material bag, meticulously hand-knitted by artisans using cachou (water hyacinth/seagrass). Its natural texture is absolutely lovely.

Carrying a parasol and going out also suits the summer scenery well. Flattened stems are alternately woven in a diagonal pattern, forming a single mat. From this mat, individual bags and baskets are shaped. Finally, by weaving the edges, the overall strength of the item is increased.

The "warabikago" is a basket woven from finely split madake bamboo from Ibaraki Prefecture.
As its name suggests, it is a tool born from daily life, used since ancient times for harvesting wild vegetables and mushrooms. Every step of its creation is carefully done by hand.








The bottom is square for stability, and the body has a beautiful curve for easy carrying. The handles are woven from the bottom up to ensure durability when carrying heavy items.




As natural materials are used, the bamboo colors may vary, but over time they will age into a beautiful golden hue.




Black spots may be seen on the surface of the bamboo, but please understand that these are not mold. Also, the appearance will vary depending on the part of the bamboo used, but please understand this as a characteristic of natural materials.




Even for baskets of the same size, there may be slight differences in size depending on the weaver. We have listed the average size. Thank you for your understanding.




Fine details have been added, such as making the parts that touch the hands thicker, for ease of holding.




These beautifully woven madake bamboo baskets are not only great for the kitchen but also make lovely storage baskets.

1909年には西川登村竹細工組合が設立され、竹細工職人は500人を超えました。
同組合では技術の向上と品質の安定に力を注ぎました。明治天皇がご訪問されたのを機に、
西川登竹細工は伊万里・有田焼と肩を並べるほどの名声を博したと伝えられています。

1933年には武雄市西川登町高瀬地区に共同作業場を設け、品質の安定にいっそう取り組みました。
また、小学校高等科の課外特別授業としても取り入れられ、竹細工の認知につながりました。

竹材の伐採から材料の取り出し、編み上げに至るまで、すべての工程を一貫して行っています。
熟練の技術を活かして、生活に根ざした竹細工を製造しております。
