It makes dishes with broth stand out, and even just casually placing cut fruits in it creates a beautiful presentation.
Sabikairagi is characterized by the fine crazing of its slip.
The varied texture, created through multiple manual steps like applying white slip to the base, painting with rusty gosho (iron oxide), and then glazing, is deeply tasteful and impressive.
Back side.

sobokai Origo 220 Deep Plate
A round plate that makes your food look good even if you're not good at plating.
The wide rim accentuates the contrast between the plated food and the empty space, creating a special presentation.
It's great for pasta and salads, of course, but
it also makes home-cooked meals like hamburgers look extra special.
When food is plated, a natural empty space is created, giving a formal and sophisticated impression.
Due to the small foot and wide rim, warping and distortion may occur during firing. The individual undulations and unevenness give each piece a unique character.
Back of the plate.
Made from red ara-tsuchi clay. The rough minerals containing sand and iron are the source of its powerful presence.
During firing, natural unevenness and roughness appear, creating a variety of textures. Not overly neat, not uniform. It allows you to enjoy the natural expressions created by earth and fire.

sobokai
A professional-use brand by Marumitsu Poterie, developed from a chef's perspective.
Tableware should always enhance the food. By eliminating unnecessary decoration and pursuing a balance between material and aesthetic form, tableware that highlights the food is created. Whether in restaurants or homes, it exudes a strong presence that elevates the food and space.
COLOR
Kohiki
A bumpy texture created by coating with slip while capturing the irregularities of the rough clay.
Although a transparent glaze is applied, excessive gloss is suppressed, resulting in a soft and calm appearance. The iron content in the clay can cause a slight pinkish tint, and the red clay showing through thinner parts of the kohiki glaze also adds to its charm.
Oribe
The depth created by the varying shades of glaze and the subtle scorch marks that appear in thinly glazed areas create a richly expressive landscape. The rough texture of the clay and the Oribe glaze overlap, conveying tranquility within strength. The rich, deep green bestows elegance upon the tableware, creating a special table setting.
Shirohagi-yohen (White Hagi Kiln Change)
The greatest charm of Shirohagi-yohen is that no two pieces are exactly alike. The flowing movement of the glaze, the large iron marks, the yellowish or bluish tints, the unique texture of each piece is unpredictable. We hope you enjoy the luxurious time of holding and admiring these unique plates born from nature.
