Yukihiko Tsutsui's wild grape basket bags are easy to carry and match because they aren't too formal. They are like Tsutsui-san's own simple and unassuming personality.



This "wild grape basket bag" was made in a satoyama (village forest) in Nagano Prefecture.
This is a large bag woven in the thick ajiro style. The bold yet delicate and beautiful handiwork can truly be called Tsutsui-san's forte.



These bags are entirely handmade by Yukihiko Tsutsui of "Yamabudou Koubou Tsutsui," from cutting the wild grape vines that serve as the material. Tsutsui-san's baskets bring out a deep flavor by utilizing the natural vines, dynamically weaving in their original curves, thickness, and thinness. While many products made overseas lose their oils when the vines are boiled midway through, resulting in a lack of luster even after extended use, Tsutsui-san's wild grape baskets, carefully woven after being exposed to water, are strong and grow more beautiful with use. The baskets, boldly woven and exuding the power of nature, are easy to carry for both casual and elegant occasions, suiting any person or place. The handle joint, a characteristic of Tsutsui-san's work, is designed with strength in mind.



The gusset is sturdily woven to maintain its shape. The flat bottom prevents contents from shifting.



By using natural vines, variations in holes and color are appreciated as beautiful characteristics.



Careful cutting with scissors instead of a cutter ensures a sturdy and beautiful finish on the inside as well.



The rounded handle prevents pain when carried on the arm.

Wild grape baskets may develop mold or insect damage depending on storage conditions. Wild grape baskets, being natural materials, absorb necessary humidity and release excess moisture. We recommend storing them in a well-ventilated, low-humidity area. Even when not in use, we suggest enjoying them as interior decoration or as storage baskets in your room.


※In case of insect damage

Mr. Tsutsui can replace the vines and repair them beautifully. If purchased less than one year ago, repairs will be free of charge. For baskets older than one year, repairs are possible, but a repair fee (approximately 5000 yen and up, depending on the extent of the damage) will be incurred. Please note that round-trip shipping costs for repairs will also be borne by the customer.
