Fiore - Gardening Hat
An elegant ribbon with a floral pattern adds a touch of flair. This straw hat features a wide brim, making it ideal for sun protection. Perfect for those who want to enjoy gardening and home vegetable growing with a sense of style.
It's also great for everyday use.

Pleasing British-inspired design
The ribbon features a "floral pattern," available in two base colors: blue and navy. Following the style of England, famous for its gardening, the pattern also has a British feel.
This women's hat combines cuteness with elegance.

Excellent breathability as well as sun protection!
By sewing multiple layers of straw in a spiral, a flexible fit is created, offering exceptional comfort. Furthermore, the natural material's breathability ensures it's cool and never stuffy. The 12cm long brim is only possible thanks to the firm "straw." It stands straight, providing excellent shade without drooping.

Elegant British-style gardening hat
The ribbon is threaded through eyelets and can be used as a chin strap. For everyday use, tie it at the back of the hat or bring it around to your back for a stylish look.
Its use is completely flexible.

Founded in 1880 - A long-established company with over 100 years of history
Straw hats are a traditional craft of Kasukabe City, Saitama Prefecture.
Currently, there are few factories in Japan that can mass-produce them, and among them, Tanaka Hat Shop is a long-established company boasting over 100 years of history and tradition.
Straw hats are made using a unique sewing method where seven strands of straw are woven into one, and then individually stacked and sewn in a circular pattern by artisans.
"Straw," a natural material, is breathable and perfect for sun protection, making it an essential hat for summer.
At Tanaka Hat Shop, popular straw hats for all genders and generations are still carefully handmade one by one using traditional methods.

Adjustable sizer
A hook-and-loop fastener inside the sweatband allows for size adjustment by pulling the fastener.
The adjustment range can reduce the size by approximately 1.5cm from the stated size. Even for those who fit without adjustment, it's useful for fine-tuning on windy days.

Sewing: A Test of the Artisan's Feel
Straw braid, softened by soaking in water, is sewn using a hat-making sewing machine. Sewing begins from the "crown" (called "uzu") of the hat, stacking and sewing in a circular pattern.
The artisan carefully proceeds with sewing, occasionally checking the size with a hat block. The thinner the material, the more difficult the sewing becomes, and only a skilled artisan can create a beautiful shape. Hats sewn with high-level skill are not only beautiful to look at but also offer exceptional comfort.
A Local Tradition: Winter Drying
Straw hats are sewn from autumn to winter in preparation for the following spring. After softening the material by soaking it in water, the sewn straw hats are sun-dried.
This process, often carried out during the cold, dry winter months, is called "Kanjishi" (winter drying), and the straw hats lined up across the ground have become a "seasonal tradition" in Kasukabe City.
Shaping: Giving the Hat Individuality
Using a dedicated shaping machine fitted with a mold, the hat is pressed and formed with water pressure. Depending on the design, the crown and brim may be formed separately by hand-steaming and combining different wooden molds. With numerous molds available, various hat designs can be created through different combinations.
Decoration
After shaping, decorations such as sweatbands and ribbons are added. All work is done by hand, and artisans carefully sew on each ribbon, which serves as an accent.
Finishing
Finally, any fine straw "splinters" are removed. When straw braid is woven, the surface skin of the straw can peel, or sprout parts can protrude.
If worn as is, it would feel scratchy and uncomfortable. For the sake of the wearer, each of these is cut off by hand, stroking the hat with the palm. This is the thoughtfulness of an artisan who cares for the wearer.

〇As this is handmade, there may be slight individual differences, and sizes are approximate. 〇Do not use a hairdryer as it may cause the hat to lose its shape. Straw hats are inherently vulnerable to water. If it gets wet, reshape it and dry it in the shade. |
