It is a coarse-weave, well-ventilated fabric.
It is woven with wide spaces between threads to allow air to pass through, making it very light and flexible.
However, as a woven fabric, it has no elasticity.

---When the "sizing" used during weaving washes off, the individual fibers of each thread spread out, bringing out the inherent softness of cotton.
Also, as the fine fibers intertwine, it becomes even more skin-friendly, transforming into a soft, light, and airy material.

Wool Care Instructions
◎ Machine washable
JOHA wool can be machine washed without a fuss. By placing it in a laundry net and washing it with a neutral detergent on a 'delicate cycle', there's no need to worry about shrinking. *Caution: Please use a neutral detergent suitable for wool.
◎Color transfer / Aging
Wool is excellent for dyeing. In other words, it's a material that easily transfers color. We recommend washing with similar colors.
Wool is a living material. Over time, it will gradually take on a yellowish tint, developing the unique texture of natural materials. Please avoid using chlorine-based bleaches as they can intensify the yellowing.
◎Storage method
The proteins contained in animal fibers like wool and silk can become food for insects. Insects love sweat, dirt, and food stains, which can lead to "moth damage" in some cases. Make sure to thoroughly remove any unseen food stains or sweat through soaking before storing. Ironing with a pressing cloth is also one way to protect against insects.

How to care for wool

2026 Yotsume Senpusya Calendar
The landscapes of daily life woven by Japan's changing seasons. Each page is layered as if dyed on fabric, creating a calendar for the year.
Yotsume Senpusya Calendar 2026
For the 2024 and 2025 Yotsume Senpusya calendars, the motifs were inspired by the climate of Kyushu, as the artist was living in Oita Prefecture at the time.
This time, instead of focusing on the climate specific to a particular region, the design revisits Japan's rich seasonal landscapes, with a greater emphasis on the changing natural environment.
Everyday small things, like rain, sunlight, and the pleasantness of the wind, can feel special.
For the 2026 calendar, I envisioned expressing such everyday nature and the four seasons of Japan.
The last page contains the thoughts of dyer Mr. Ono about the patterns for each month.
The printing is done with a special ink, like a woodblock print, and the paper quality varies for each month, resulting in a rich texture.
We hope you enjoy spending time with this calendar, looking forward to a new month with each turn of the page.
Yotsume Senpusya is a dye workshop presided over by designer Toyokazu Ono, who handles the textile design.
They mainly dye fabrics using traditional Japanese dyeing techniques such as Katazome (stencil dyeing) and Tsutsugaki (freehand paste resist dyeing), creating clothing, noren (split curtains), tenugui (hand towels), and other fabrics for daily life.
Recently, they have also been incorporating natural dyes and print dyeing, creating a diverse range of works without being confined to Katazome.

We hope that encountering Yotsume's dyed fabrics will be a refreshing experience and brighten your daily life, even just a little.
Using dyeing techniques such as Katazome (stencil dyeing) and Tsutsugaki (freehand paste resist dyeing),
most processes are done by hand.
Fabrics dyed by hand possess a unique "ambiguity" that cannot be achieved by machines.
The outlines of lines may be blurred, or the print slightly misaligned.
While these are unintended elements,
this "ambiguity" is somehow interesting and conveys the warmth of human hands.
We aim to create such fabrics.
