Purely Domestic Walnut Basket Bag

Purely domestic walnut basket bag.
This is a purely domestic walnut basket bag, carefully woven one by one
using walnut bark from Oku-Aizu, Fukushima Prefecture.
This is a work by Mieko Hasegawa from Mishima Town, Fukushima Prefecture,
a region known for its thriving woven crafts.
She is a skilled artisan, and her kind and cheerful personality
seems to be directly reflected in the warmth of her work.

Walnut bark has a beautiful grayish-brown, withered appearance, and as it is used, it gradually changes
to a deep, calm brownish-red color.
Compared to wild grapevines, the bark is softer, more flexible, and elastic.
It's lightweight and easy to hold, and its durability means it can be used for a long time, which is another attractive feature.

Its simple and natural texture makes it a versatile shape that can be worn not only with traditional Japanese clothing
but also easily matched with your everyday style.

It's easy to carry for both casual and elegant occasions, and suits any person or place.
No two walnut baskets made from natural materials are the same.
We deliver a beautiful, one-of-a-kind encounter.

A moderately sized, rounded handle that is easy to slip onto your arm.
The contrast created by using the back of the bark adds an accent.

The bark is trimmed thinly and evenly, and carefully and beautifully woven into an ajiro pattern using its surface.

The gusset is sturdily woven to maintain its shape.
The square bottom prevents contents from shifting.

The inside of the bag is lined with fabric,
and there are a total of three pockets on the left and right.
It also comes with a covering cloth, which is a nice feature for concealing the bag's contents.

[To customers purchasing walnut baskets]
Depending on storage conditions, walnut baskets may develop mold or insect damage.
As a natural material, walnut bark absorbs necessary humidity and releases excess moisture.
We recommend storing it in a well-ventilated, low-humidity place whenever possible.
Even when not in use, we suggest enjoying it as an interior decoration or storage basket in your room.
