A "wild grapevine basket bag" crafted in a satoyama village in Nagano Prefecture.
This is a medium-sized bag woven with a thick Ajiro weave. Its bold yet delicate and beautiful craftsmanship can truly be called Tsutsui-san's forte.




With a flat bottom and a sturdy gusset, it offers more storage capacity than it appears.


These bags are entirely handmade by Yukihiro Tsutsui of "Yamabudo Kobo Tsutsui," from the harvesting of the wild grapevine vines that serve as material.
Tsutsui-san's baskets make the most of natural vines, dynamically weaving in the original curves, thicknesses, and thinness of the vines to create a deep, rich texture. While many overseas-made products lose their oils when the vines are boiled midway through, preventing them from developing a luster with use, Tsutsui-san's wild grapevine baskets, carefully woven after being soaked in water, are strong and grow more beautiful with use. These boldly woven baskets, exuding natural strength, are easy to carry for both casual and elegant occasions, suiting any person or setting. The joint of the handle, a characteristic of Tsutsui-san's work, is thoughtfully designed for strength.




The gusset is sturdily woven and maintains its shape, preventing items from shifting around thanks to the flat bottom.




By using natural vines, variations such as holes and differences in color become part of its beautiful charm.
Carefully cut with scissors instead of a cutter, the inside also boasts a durable and beautiful finish.

[To customers purchasing wild grapevine baskets]

Wild grapevine baskets may develop mold or insect damage depending on storage conditions. Wild grapevine baskets, being natural materials, absorb necessary humidity and release excess moisture. We recommend storing them in a well-ventilated area with low humidity whenever possible. Even when not in use, we suggest enjoying them in your room as an interior decoration or storage basket.


*In case of insect damage

Mr. Tsutsui can beautifully repair them by replacing the vines. If purchased within one year, repairs will be free of charge. For baskets that have been owned for over a year, repairs are possible, though a repair fee (approximately 5,000 yen and up, depending on the extent of the damage) will apply. Please note that you will also be responsible for the round-trip shipping costs in such cases.
