BAN INOUE
Simple Kaya Tote Bag
A tote bag that makes use of the lightness of triple-layered mosquito net fabric
This is a simple, easy-to-use tote bag designed with a gusset that folds inward at the bottom, making it easy to flatten.
It can be used as a sub-bag for travel or as a storage bag that blends in with your interior.
"THE BASIC" collection supervised by craft buyer Akiko Hino
The keywords are standard, long-lasting, sustainable, unisex, and purposeful craftsmanship. The ever-changing nature of "kaya fabric" creates "everyday" and "casual" items. "In the end, you always reach for this one" among various clothes. That's what "THE BASIC" is.
The handles are made of cotton cord with a wax (paraffin) finish. The color tone is also matched to pursue simplicity and basic design.
The versatility of kaya, utilizing its breathability, expands.

【Kaya (Mosquito Net)】
---Kaya is the name of a coarsely woven fabric. Originally used as insect repellent fabric, it includes the character for "mosquito".
BAN INOUE's commitment is to 100% cotton, vibrantly colored kaya.
【Characteristics of Kaya Fabric】
---Kaya was originally hung as a mosquito net for sleeping.
It is a coarsely woven, well-ventilated fabric.
The manufacturing method involves weaving with wide spaces between the threads to allow air circulation, making it extremely light and flexible.
However, as it is a woven fabric, it does not stretch.
【Appeal of Kaya Fabric】
---When the "sizing" used during weaving falls off, the fibers of each individual thread spread out, revealing the natural softness of cotton.
Furthermore, as fine fibers intertwine, it transforms into an even more skin-friendly, soft, and airy material.
It can be safely used by those with sensitive skin and children.
Vibrant Colors
To bring out the beautiful and clean texture of kaya fabric, we are particular about dyeing it in traditional Japanese colors such as fuji-iro (wisteria color) and yamabuki-iro (kerria flower color).
Absorbent, Quick-Drying, Breathable
Kaya is excellent in absorbency, quick-drying properties, and breathability. Therefore, it quickly absorbs moisture, dries fast, and is hygienic as it is resistant to unpleasant odors.
Safe Natural Material, 100% Cotton
To bring out the softness of kaya, we use no synthetic fibers and 100% cotton. All manufacturing is also done in Japan.
