Kaya (mosquito net fabric) --- Kaya is the name of a coarsely woven fabric. It originally contained the character "蚊" (ka, meaning mosquito) because it was used as a mosquito repellent cloth.
BAN INOUE's kaya is special for its 100% cotton and vibrant colors.
Characteristics of kaya fabric --- Originally, kaya was hung as a mosquito net for sleeping. It is a coarsely woven fabric with good ventilation.
It is woven using a method that leaves wide gaps between the threads to allow air to pass through, making it extremely light and flexible. However, it is a woven fabric, so it does not stretch.
The charm of kaya fabric --- When the "sizing" used during weaving falls off, the fibers of each thread expand, bringing out the inherent softness of cotton.
Additionally, as the thin fibers intertwine, the material becomes even more skin-friendly, soft, and airy. It can be used safely even by those with sensitive skin or children.
