A colorful 100% cotton tenugui (hand towel) made from fabric dyed by artisans using a meticulous stencil dyeing technique. The smooth, soft cotton material is gentle on the skin.
Hand-dyed fabric possesses a unique "ambiguity" that cannot be replicated by machines. The outlines of the lines may be blurry, or the patterns slightly misaligned.
While unintended, this "ambiguity" is somehow intriguing and conveys the warmth of human craftsmanship. 
Tenugui are not bulky and dry quickly, making them hygienic. We recommend putting one in your basket bag.

The "Stencil-dyed Tenugui Owl" boldly depicts an owl with wide-spread wings.
Owls are considered very auspicious in Japan, often associated with "fukurō" (不苦労, meaning no hardship) and "fuku-rai" (福来, meaning good fortune comes).

The Hanafu pattern was created in the early days of Yotsume Senpusya. When we first started, I was not yet accustomed to creating patterns and struggled quite a bit.
I loved floral patterns and tried to create them, but it just wasn't working. I kept trying to create a floral pattern using a method that even I, at that time, could manage, and as a result, this Hanafu pattern was born.
Although it is far from a typical floral pattern, it has become a popular and representative pattern of Yotsume Senpusya.
