Kaya (mosquito netting) --- Kaya is the name of a loosely woven fabric. It was originally used as an insect repellent, hence the character "蚊" (mosquito) in its name.
BAN INOUE's kaya is distinguished by its 100% cotton and vibrant colors.
Characteristics of kaya fabric --- Originally, kaya was hung as mosquito netting for sleeping. It is a coarsely woven fabric with good ventilation.
It is woven with large gaps between the threads to allow air to pass through, making it very light and flexible. However, as it is a woven fabric, it has no elasticity.
The charm of kaya fabric --- When the "sizing" used during weaving washes out, the fibers of each individual thread expand, bringing out the natural softness of cotton.
Furthermore, as the fine fibers intertwine, the material becomes even more skin-friendly, soft, fluffy, and air-infused. It can be used with peace of mind by those with sensitive skin or children.
