Matsunoya is a wholesaler of "aramono" (daily sundries) established in 1945. Aranmono refers to simple household items like brooms, dustpans, baskets, and buckets, which were once found at the entrance or in the kitchen of every home.
The items we select are not expensive works of art or crafts. Nor are they mass-produced, disposable tools. They are "just right" tools that quietly blend into daily life, born from the hands of artisans in small factories and rural villages, and are "durable, affordable, and easy to use."

Shunkei-nuri is a type of lacquerware technique in which glue is applied to the base, then yellow or red coloring is added, and finally a clear lacquer is applied to bring out the beauty of the wood grain. This golden lacquerware, "Shunkei-nuri," which utilizes the wood grain, is light and easy for even children to carry. Its durability and practicality are also among its features.
It is also perfect for bento boxes for sports festivals and picnic seasons.
It's a recommended size for those who eat a lot, as it can hold plenty of side dishes.
The seams are sewn together with thin strips of cherry bark. The cherry bark, sewn with the craftsman's skill, beautifully adorns it.
A "Menpa" refers to a wooden magewappa (bentwood) bento box. It is said that the word originated from "men (face) ga utsuru hodo kirei na wappa" (a beautiful wappa that reflects your face).

This is a square tray colander made from high-quality madake (true bamboo) from Sado Island, Niigata Prefecture.
The tray colanders made on Sado Island are known as "gozame-ami" (mat-weave),
and are characterized by their meticulous, fine, and beautiful weave.
They can be stacked for storage,
making them very convenient and space-saving!
They will surely come in handy if you have them in different sizes.
In addition to kitchen tasks,
they are also lovely to use as beautiful Japanese baskets for holding fruits or other items.
Furthermore, the rim is reinforced with wire as a core, wrapped multiple times with rattan at different positions,
and then wrapped again from the opposite direction to make it durable.
It results in a sturdy, rounded rim
that is gentle on the hands.

This is a rectangular bamboo sieve made from high-quality madake bamboo from Sado Island, Niigata Prefecture.
Basin sieves made on Sado Island are characterized by their delicate, fine, and beautiful weave, known as goza-me ami.
They can be stacked for storage,
making them very convenient and not bulky! Having different sizes would be useful.
They are not only useful for kitchen tasks but also make beautiful Japanese baskets for holding fruit.
Being flat, they are perfect for tempura or onigiri.
Furthermore, the rim is made by repeatedly wrapping rattan around a wire core, shifting its position, and then wrapping it again from the opposite direction to make it sturdy. This results in a firm, rounded rim that is comfortable to handle.
